The word cataract is derived from a Greek word, "katarraktes" which means "Waterfall"
Definition:
It is a medical condition in which there is a partial or complete opacity of lens or the capsule of the lens, the lens becomes cloudy causing blurring of vision or blindness.
Classification:
Cataracts are mainly classified into two categories:
(1) Morphology (size, shape, location)
(2) Etiology (cause)
